Dr. Prashant Deshpande, MD MBA FAAP, has been in pediatric practice for the last 26 years. He joined Southwest Pediatrics in 1996 after his residency at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn ,IL . He is a Board Certified in Pediatrics and Neonatology with completing fellowships in Neonatology at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney ,Australia, and St Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University in St Louis. During his fellowship at Washington University in St Louis, he did basic research on understanding the causation of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Dr Deshpande holds faculty and clinical medicine appointments at Advocate Children’s
Hospital in Oak Lawn, Palos Community Hospital ( Now Northwestern Medicine ),
Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox , and Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. He
teaches medical students and pediatric residents at both offices. He holds an
academic position as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics ,at Midwestern
University in Downers Grove, IL. He has authored many scientific articles in peer
reviewed and on-line journals.

Dr Deshpande has completed his executive MBA in 2018 from the prestigious Quinlan School of Business from Loyola University in Chicago.

Dr Deshpande’s primary interest is in Telemedicine in the Primary Care office and is a committee member of the Telemedicine Committee at Advocate Aurora Health Care, IL.

Dr Deshpande is an entrepreneur and an inventor. He has successfully developed a FDA approved handheld portable Telemedicine device which is able to transmit a patient’s vitals and allows for the real time examination of patients.

Dr Deshpande recently launched the YouTube Channel “Dr D’s Table Talk” , with a mission to communicate medical facts to educate parents and patients about various
medical conditions. He has published online articles for patient education on
topics such as Colic and Neonatal Jaundice.  His mission is to deliver the “Triple Aims” of health care which are, patient focused high quality health care while reducing health care costs.
