Ever since my childhood, I wanted to become a doctor. I entered medicine because it is a noble profession and I am proud to be the first physician in my family. Now, I am fortunate to enjoy what I do every day in the office and hospital.
Growing up in Bombay(now Mumbai), India, I learned about medicine at one of the finest medical institutions in India and perhaps the world, GS Medical College and KEM Hospital. After doing my postgraduate training in pediatrics, I went to Australia to study newborn medicine at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. I then completed my fellowship in the same field at Washington University in St Louis, and I learned to treat complex medical conditions in the neonatal intensive care unit.
During that time, I had the opportunity to work with and learn from Professor Bradley Thach, an international authority on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). After finishing the fellowship at WASHU, I completed the remainder of my pediatric residency training at Christ Hospital and Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn.
I am privileged to be part of this community. I believe there is no such thing as a “silly question” when taking care of patients, and I feel that parents know their kids the best. My practice interests include autism, medical technology, asthma, and neonatal medicine. I welcome the opportunity to care for NICU graduates and children with complex medical problems, both congenital and acquired.
At Southwest Pediatrics, our practice is not a group – it is a team practice where we are proud of our medical nursing and administrative staff. We share a common goal: To do the best for our patients and their families!
In my free time, I enjoy reading nonfiction, work on developing medical products and play table tennis. I am married to Jyotsna, an occupational therapist at Christ Hospital specializing in hand injuries, and we have a son and daughter.
